New pipework and pipe replacement — extending water supply to a laundry or sleepout, swapping failing galvanised pipe for PEX or copper, and re-piping during a renovation. Pipework inside a home is sanitary plumbing, so it is restricted work under NZ law.
107 local plumbers across Auckland can quote this work.

New pipework is quoted by run length, material and how much wall, floor or ceiling has to be opened. Copper costs more than PEX to install but is often specified for exposed runs.
| Job | Typical NZ range |
|---|---|
| Single fixture rough-in | $400 – $900 |
| Extend hot and cold to a new appliance | $350 – $800 |
| Re-pipe one bathroom | $3,000 – $8,000+ |
| Full house re-pipe, 3 bedrooms | $8,000 – $20,000+ |
| Outdoor tap or garden line | $250 – $600 |
Indicative ranges only — your quotes may differ with access, materials and the state of what is already there. Always compare itemised quotes for your specific job.
PEX is flexible, faster to install through framing and usually cheaper; copper is rigid, tolerates high temperatures and is often preferred for exposed or accessible runs. Both meet NZ Building Code requirements when installed correctly. Ask each quote to state the material so you are comparing like with like.
Like-for-like replacement is generally exempt, but altering or extending sanitary plumbing beyond that can need a consent from your council. Your plumber should tell you which side of the line your job sits on before work starts, and the council is the final word.
For a single fixture rough-in, usually a few hours. A bathroom re-pipe is typically one to three days with the water off during working hours only. Agree the shutdown window before the job starts and note it in the job description if you work from home.
There are currently 107 plumbers listed on Serproz covering Auckland, and any of them can quote pipe installation. Post the job once and compare the quotes that come back rather than ringing around.
You accept a quote and pay into SafeHold rather than paying the plumber directly. The money is held while the work happens and is released when you confirm the job is done — or by our staged dispute process if you and the plumber disagree. There are no lead fees for either side; a service fee applies only when a job goes ahead, and it is shown before you commit.
Pay into SafeHold, release when the job is done
Your payment is held while the work happens and released when you confirm it is complete. No lead fees for anyone — you only pay when a job actually goes ahead.
