Frequently asked questions
What happens if the job takes longer than the block I booked?
Your electrician proposes the extra time as a change order and you approve it before any more is charged. The block you funded can't be increased on its own — once money is held it's fixed — so extra time always means a new amount you agreed to.
What if we finish early?
The block is the amount you booked and funded, so short jobs are better suited to a fixed-price service. If the whole visit is cancelled before it starts, the held funds are refunded in full.
Does the hourly rate include the call-out?
Yes — travel within Auckland is included in the rate, which is why stacking several small jobs into one block works out better than booking them separately.
Do I get a Certificate of Compliance?
Where the work done is prescribed electrical work, your electrician must certify it — that is a legal requirement, not an extra. Ask them to confirm which parts of the visit are certifiable before they start.
Is the electrician registered?
Only pros whose EWRB registration has been checked against the register can accept a booking on Serproz. Prescribed electrical work must be done by a registered electrician under NZ law.
